Dear Colleagues,
I am excited to share the news that the necessary steps are complete and the deal has officially closed.  Dow and Rohm and Haas are now one company!
From all of us at Dow to our new colleagues at Rohm and Haas – welcome!  We’re glad you are with us.  I recognize that today is somewhat bittersweet for you, as you lose the Rohm and Haas identity for your company.  For a century, the name Rohm and Haas has commanded respect and admiration. 
The things that made Rohm and Haas great – your unparalleled customer service, expertise in innovative specialty businesses and culture of innovation –    will all live on as part of the New Dow, as we become the leading specialty chemicals and advanced materials company in the world!
As you all know, completing the transaction to bring our two companies together certainly didn’t happen in the way we all thought it would, but the important thing is that we’re here now.  Our future is bright. And now we can start focusing on achieving that future.  Integration activities have already begun and will accelerate in the days to come.  Our combined leadership team will do everything within our power to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
We will be communicating with all of you throughout this process, beginning with a special broadcast from Midland tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. EST.  (Details on how to access the broadcast will be available on both the Dow and Rohm and Haas intranet sites early    tomorrow morning.)  During that broadcast, Pierre Brondeau, the new president and CEO of Dow’s Advanced Materials division, and I will address some of the most important questions that we know are on your minds. 
In the days and weeks ahead, we’ll keep you apprised of our progress, sharing our successes and being candid about our challenges.  Starting tomorrow, members of our leadership team will be visiting 30 Rohm and Haas sites to talk with our new colleagues. 
We are facing extraordinarily difficult global economic conditions. The path forward will not be easy and it will not be without challenges. However, both Dow and Rohm and Haas have legacies of overcoming setbacks and obstacles, and weathering tough times.  We have the vision and the will to not only persevere but to thrive and succeed. Most importantly, we have people with the expertise and commitment to make it all happen. 
Let’s take a moment to congratulate each other on what we have achieved – and to consider what we will become together. We are a new company today, and well on our way to being the largest, most profitable and most respected chemical company in the world.
